The MS 60 hardening furnace allows for the complete shutdown of steel heat treatment processes, such as annealing, hardening, or tempering. The hardening element has a closed working chamber designed for heating components. It is also possible to produce even longer pieces. The working chamber is made of replaceable fireclay plates containing spiral resistance wire heaters. Thermal insulation is provided by a ceramic fiber plate.

A temperature controller with a thermocouple activates the temperature limiter for the hardening element, limiting the temperature to 1°C (3°F).

The MS 60 hardening furnace can be additionally equipped with:
- an extended time/temperature programmer
- a silicon carbide compound that withstands heavy loads
- a more powerful heater that allows for heating components to temperatures of up to 1250°C (2772°F)
- a tilting work chamber cover
- a work table
